Victoria (1837-1901),gold Half Sovereign, 1887 M, Melbourne Mint, fifth young head left in lower relief, type A5, date below, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, toothed border around rim both sides,rev.crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, small M for Melbourne below, cross on crown clear of border teeth, BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, weight 3.88g (Hill 477 R3; Bull EGC. 1795; S.3863B).Toned, with a couple of hairline scratches on head and other light surface marks, a bold fine and extremely rare with a very low mintage.

Calendar year Mintage 64,013 which actually includes nearly 55,000 Jubilee heads. The mintage of the young head piece is only circa 9,155 pieces!

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse as "Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith."
