Victoria (1837-1901), gold proof Half Sovereign, 1853, small date, young head left, W.W. raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. inverted die axis, crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, edge plain (WR 346 R2; Hill 427A; Bull EGC 1249 R4; S.3859). Some small nicks and hairlines on obverse with an attractive brilliance, slabbed and graded by NGC as PF61 Ultra Cameo and very rare.

NGC Certification 4338465-003.

The Latin legend on the obverse translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God", continuing on the reverse as "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".
