Scotland, Robert II (1371-90), silver Groat, Edinburgh Mint, crowned head left, sceptre before with double tressure of six arcs surrounding broken by neck, small trefoils in spandrels, beaded circles and legend surrounding, +ROBERTVS+ DEI+ GRA+ REX+ SCOTTORVM, rev. long cross pattée, pierced mullet in each inner angle, beaded circles and twin concentric legends surrounding, outer legend +DnS+̯ P TECTOR m'S + LIB ATORm'S, with crescent under cross after DnS, inner legend, VILL A ED InBv RGh, weight 3.89g (Burns 4 fig.310; S.5131). Toned, uneven in shape and subsequently weak in parts, otherwise very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on obverse "Robert by the grace of God, King of Scotland," and on the reverse outer legend "God is my Defender and Redeemer" and the inner as The Town of Edinburgh.
