D G. R. SCOTORVM, rev. crown over voided saltire, cinquefoil below, beaded circles and legend surrounding, initial mark lis, OPPIDVM. EDINBVRGI, retrograde N in legend, weight 1.03g (SCBI 35:1060-64; SCBI 58:857-61; SCBI 71:830-845 Stewartby; Burns 3, fig.863; S.5436). Somewhat weakly struck in one portion and at corresponding part of reverse, otherwise good very fine and rare.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Mary by the Grace of God, Queen of Scotland," and on the reverse "Town of Edinburgh."
