Kingdom of Macedon, Antigonos III Doson (229-221 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm. Mint of Amphipolis, struck c. 227-225 B.C. Head of Poseidon facing right, wearing a wreath of seaweed, rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ANTIΓONOY inscribed on the side of a prow left, upon which is seated Apollo left, testing a bow, a monogram below, 17.07g., 12h (SNG Alpha Bank 1046-7; Touratsoglou 52-3). Beautiful old cabinet tone, well-struck for this issue, broad flan, nearly extremely fine and with a fine old pedigree.
