John (1199-1216), as King of Ireland, silver Penny, Dublin Mint (1204-10), Moneyer Roberd, facing crowned King in triangle holding sceptre, pierced quatrefoil to right, Royal legend surrounding, rev. sun over moon in triangle with pellet in each apex, Mint and moneyer legend (D&F 50; S.6228). Toned very fine with a good portrait.
