Ionian Islands, Samos (412-405 B.C.), Silver Drachm. Attic standard. Lion's scalp facing, rev. ΣAMI, forepart of an ox running right, wearing an ornamented collar, an olive-spray below its head; all within an incuse square, 4.24g., 2h (Barron, Class IX, 1, pl. XVII, 2 (these dies); Waddington 2035). Some light old cleaning marks in reverse field, attractive iridescent cabinet tone, nearly extremely fine and very rare.
