George I 1717 Dump Farthing

George I (1714-1727), Copper Farthing, 1717, "dump" issue, laureate and cuirassed bust right, Latin legend with thick linear and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS. REX., rev. inverted die axis, Britannia seated on globe with spear, shield and spray of leaves, date below in exergue, Latin legend with thick linear and toothed border surrounding BRITA N NIA. (Peck 783; S.3661). Toned with some very light surface marks, otherwise a pleasing extremely fine, rare this well preserved.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "George, King" and on the reverse "of the Britons."
