Elizabeth I (1558-1603), silver Groat, first issue (1559-60), small crowned bust left, wire line inner circle, legend and outer beaded circle surrounding, initial mark lis both sides, ELIZABETH; D; G; ANG; FRA; Z; HIB; RE; rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, POSVI DEV; AD IVTORE M MEV: weight 1.73g (BCW Ls-1F/LS-d1; N.1986; S.2550). Once cleaned, lightly toned, with some punch marks both sides, surface marks, about fine and rare.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of England, France and Ireland." and on the reverse as "I have made God my helper" a Psalm from the Bible.
