Edward VII (1901-10), gold Sovereign, 1909 C, Ottawa, Canada Mint, bare head right, DES below truncation for engraver George William De Saulles, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, EDWARDVS VII D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP:, rev. St George and dragon right, date in exergue, small WWP below lance for William Wellesley Pole, previous Master of the Mint when design adopted, letter C at centre of ground-line, B.P. in upper right of exergue for engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, edge milled, weight 7.98g (Bentley 881; Marsh 184; S.3970). Toned with some light marks, extremely fine, graded by NGC as AU55.

Calendar Year Mintage 16,300.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Edward the Seventh by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."
Despite the very low mintage, the survival rate of these coins is quite high especially with the advent of the Bank of Canada Hoard that has come through the marketplace in the last ten years. Despite this increase in population, the demand for the lower mintage Sovereigns remains high and the market readily absorbs them.
