Edward IV, first reign (1461-70), silver Groat, London mint, utilising a converted York Mint obverse die, facing crowned bust with fleur over E on cusp at base of breast, quatrefoil each side of neck, within double tressure of nine arcs, fleur on each cusp, beaded circles and legend surrounding, pellet stops, initial mark rose (1464-65), EDWARD DI GRA REX. AnGL Z FRAnC, rev. long cross pattee, tri-pellets in each inner angle, beaded circles and double concentric legends surrounding, CIVI TAS LOn DOn, inner legend with trefoil stops, POSVI DEVm' A DIVTOR E'x mEVm, weight 2.87g (N.1583/1565; S.2012/2000). Toned, a little weak at centre, almost very fine and a rare variety.

The Latin abbreviated legend translates as "Edward, by the grace of God, King of England and France, Lord of Ireland" and on the reverse "I have made God my helper," a Psalm from the Bible.
