Charles I Penny mm two dots

Charles I (1625-49), silver Penny, Tower Mint, Group D, type 3a, fourth crowned bust left, value behind, initial mark pellet(?), .CAROLVS. D. G. M. B. F. ET H. REX, rev. oval quartered shield of arms, initial mark three pellets, ...IVS THRONVM FIRMAT, weight 0.42g (Brooker 699; N.2270; S.2845). Toned, a little double struck on reverse, a little flat in strike on base of bust but with a good face, otherwise good very fine and on par with the Brooker examples.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland" and on the reverse "Justice strengthens the Throne."
