Calabria, Tarentum, silver Nomos, c.280-272 BC, the Dioscuri on horseback left, ΣΩΔΑΜΟΣ below, rev. TAPAΣ, Taras holding shield decorated with hippocamp, and two spears in left hand, crowned by Nike whom he holds in his right hand, waves below, 6.33g (HGC-1, 885; Vlasto-773-9; HN Italy-1011). Somewhat porous, very fine, rare type with two horsemen.
