Australia, Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1868, Sydney Mint, struck in gold alloyed with 8.33% silver, second young filleted head left, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:, rev. AUSTRALIA centred within crowned floral wreath, SYDNEY MINT above round, denomination ONE SOVEREIGN below round, edge milled, weight 7.96g (Bentley 652; McD 115; Marsh A373; KM.4; Fr.10). Toned, with surface marks both sides, good fine.

Calendar year mintage 2,319,000

The Latin legend on the obverse translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".
