Antoninus Pius (A.D. 138-161), 22 carat Gold Aureus, Mint of Rome, Struck AD 148-149. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XII, laureate and draped bust right, rev. COS IIII, Aequitas, draped, standing left, holding scales in right hand and cornucopia in left, 7.27g., 6h (RIC III 177f; Calicó 1505c (this coin illustrated); Biaggi 704, Cohen 235). Beautifully toned, with a high relief portrait and virtually as struck, in NGC holder MS, Strike 5/5 Surface 3/5, edge marks, fine Style.
