Anne 1709 Halfcrown, plain reverse

Anne (1702-14), silver Post-Union Halfcrown, 1709, second draped bust left, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, ANNA.DEI. GRATIA. rev. Post-Union crowned cruciform shields, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, .MAG BRI. FR ET. HIB REG. edge inscribed in raised letters, .+. DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. ANNO. REGNI. OCTAVO, weight 15.02g (Bull 1371; ESC 579; S.3604). Unevenly toned with some surface marks, dig on neck, otherwise almost very fine.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Anne by the Grace of God," and abbreviated on the reverse as "Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland." and additionally on the edge "An ornament and a safeguard, in the eighth year of the reign."
