17th Century Token, Westmorland, Kirkby Kendal, Oliver Plat, Farthing, 1659, three maltese crosses, beaded circles and legend surrounding, star at top, *OLIVER. PLAT. OF, rev. date at centre, three stars above and below, beaded circles and legend surrounding, *KIRKBY:KENDAL, weight 0.90g (Boyne 9; BW 11). Weakly struck in one portion both sides, otherwise about very fine.
According to Boyne, Roman Catholic Oliver Plat lived alone as a gentleman of property at Summer how in Skelsmergh. He died aged 95 and was buried on 18th March 1686.
