17th Century Token, London, Charter House Lane, John Howes, Farthing, Grocer's Arms within roped circle, legend surrounding with lozenge stops and toothed outer border, initial mark mullet, IOHN. HOWES. AT. CHARTR, rev. initials in two lines, lozenge stop either side of H / I.M, roped circle and legend surrounding, initial mark mullet, HOVSE . LANE . END, weight 1.19g (B.W. 565). Toned very fine.

Charterhouse Lane was a narrow link between St John Street and one of the three gates of the London Charterhouse, north of Smithfield.
